Hannah Mills " Don’t let the fear of striking out stop you from playing the game"
Season 4, Episode 7, Aug 08, 2022, 01:00 AM
This week on the Monday Mile podcast, Aimee travels to Plymouth to meet sailing legend, Hannah Mills, she’s not just TeamGB’s Tokyo 2020 flag bearer, two-time Olympic champion, but she’s a also Two-time World Champion in the Women's 470 class. The Olympic medalist is a passionate environmentalist and an IOC sustainability ambassador and a global Sail GP sustainability spokesperson.
Aimee’s talks to her about the Impact League and how Sail GP, as a global tour is paving the way to retract it’s environmental foot print. Through the sports vision to race both on and off the water in the race to make sport both on and off the water more sustainable.
They also touch on Fear, and how Hannah has taken her sporting mindset beyond the boat and her life experiences including her pregnancy. It's too true that pregnancy can change your body, and as an athlete it has affected her identity, as someone who was once defined by sport, athletism and the strength in her mindset. Aimee clearly took a lot from this and we hope you do too.
Aimee will be probing for answers from the full spectrum of routines; the early birds who have finely tuned Monday mornings, to the late risers who struggle to get up before 11am. How do elite athletes find the motivation to kick start their week come rain or shine? How do celebrities deliver no matter what the time of day? What knowledge can they pass on?
Each episode drops on a Monday morning as a bitesize piece of content and weekly dose of motivation - right when you need it. Aimee will meet each of her guests for a walk and a chat and over the course of the mile she will find out how they cope on a Monday morning - their idiosyncrasies, breakfast routines, alarm noises - and how, when they need to, find the motivation to kick-on through the week. Sharing some of Britain's greatest athletes’ secrets on self-motivation, candid thoughts on what they struggle with and a sideways look at some of their more unusual morning habits.
