- Interrogate the discomfort (don’t numb it)
- Set boundaries with yourself first (Go within before focusing outward
- Communicate. Communicate. Communicate. (Stop expecting others to get your position without telling them it first)
- Make it a statement (Questions imply you’re open to moving the lines. You don’t have to excuse yourself)
- Be strong but not defensive (When you are the latter you perceive others can take that boundary off you)
Remember - it’s not our job to make everyone love us. It’s to create clear lines so that when others want to come in, they know the rules.
