Shackles And Dillusion Continue With The Daybell Hearing | #ChadDaybell #LoriDaybell
Episode 4, Feb 09, 2023, 11:27 PM
On Thursday, Lori Vallow Daybell appeared in a courthouse im n Fremont County with a cheerful expression on her face despite the shackles that were attached to her ankles.
When Chad Daybell, her husband, entered the room, he flashed a quick smile at her as he was also restrained by ankle shackles.
This was the very first time the couple had appeared in court with those constraints.
The trial is scheduled to begin in seven weeks, and both of them will be tried together on multiple counts of first-degree murder and conspiracy to commit murder in connection with the deaths of two of Lori's children, ages 7 and 16, as well as Chad's ex-wife, Tammy Daybell.
District Judge Steven Boyce listened to a number of requests from defense counsel and prosecutors concerning the evidence, the jury, scheduling deadlines, and the question of whether or not Lori Daybell's case should be dismissed owing to the lack of a timely trial.
Lori Daybell's defense counsel, Jim Archibald, stated that his client's constitutional rights are being infringed because she will have been in jail for 1,169 days by the time the trial begins on April 3. Archibald's argument was based on the fact that Lori Daybell's trial will begin on April 3. Because she has not waived her right to a quick trial, the state of Idaho law mandates that a trial must take place within six months of the day a defendant is arraigned if that defendant does not waive their right to a speedy trial.
