The Arson Investigation That Went Nowhere | #AlexMurdaugh #MurdaughTrial

Episode 38,   Feb 14, 2023, 12:00 PM

"It was a calm Friday morning in the quiet suburban neighborhood of Hampton when suddenly, smoke billowed from the home of local attorney, Alex Murdaugh. Firefighters raced to the scene, responding to reports of a raging fire at 515 Holly St. Extension. But as they arrived, they were met with a scene of confusion and chaos. For this was no ordinary fire, this was a calculated and sinister act. An act of arson."

"As the smoke cleared, the full extent of the damage was revealed. The fire had been set at the back door, with accelerants spreading flames through the floor mat. But, miraculously, the fire was quickly extinguished, and the only damage was confined to the mat."

"Hampton Police Chief Perry McAlhaney knew immediately that this was no accident. 'We suspect that sometime Thursday night or Friday morning, someone spread some kind of accelerant around the house and tried to set it on fire from the back door,' he declared. And so, the investigation began, with local and state police determined to find the person responsible for this vicious attack."
