"Florida Folk Show" with Pete Gallagher Live from The Craftsman House 4-20-24
Season 1, Episode 7444, Apr 20, 05:08 PM
Our guests on Radio St. Pete’s Florida Folk Show were singer-songwriters "Barkin Barney," and Larry Lynch. Lakeland resident Charles Cook, retired Curator of Animals for Walt Disney World and retired Wildlife biologist with the Florida Game Commission – a key figure on the Florida Panther Recovery Team in the tumultuous 1980s when hunters, smugglers and even eco-organizations such as Audubon, PETA and others were fighting the state’s efforts to save and protect and preserve the Florida panther, at that time the most endangered mammal in the country AND Alex Freeze, the Collaborative Conservation Manager for the Florida Wildlife Corridor, who provided her experiences with today’s Florida panther preservation movement, focusing on the recent decisions by the Florida state legislature and Gov. DeSantis to purchase and set aside thousands of acres of critical linkages, just within the past two weeks, in the Corridor itself in both Polk County and Collier Counties. It’s a kind of a “Light at the end of the tunnel” issue, now, as the Corridor seeks to reach, uninterrupted, from the deep Everglades up to the Panhandle and beyond, a “highway” of wildlife along preserved habitat. #floridafolkshow #craftsmanhouse #petegallagher #stpete #stpetefl #tampabay #radio #radiostpete #floridawildlivecorridor #wildlifecorridor
