Beneath the charming streets of Ellinwood, Kansas, lies an abandoned underground city. Once bustling with businesses like brothels, bars, gambling establishments, barber shops, and even a harness store, this late 1800s city was connected by a network of well-built tunnels, many of which you can still explore today.

And my sister Cathy and I did just that. We toured the tunnels and the Historic Wolf Hotel, a beautiful and storied building atop the tunnels. While the hotel is a treasure trove of history, it's also a hotspot for the paranormal. Urban legends speak of spirits wandering the tunnels, including the ghost of a man who tragically took his own life in the hotel dining room in 1927.

Though much of this underground world remains hidden from the public, the open sections offer a unique and slightly eerie glimpse into Ellinwood’s intriguing past. My sister and I love history and the paranormal, so our day trip to Ellinwood was fun, informative, and a little creepy. This is Part Two of our conversation.

Today, on the Grave Talks, the historic Wolf Hotel and what’s below it, with Amanda Coots, paranormal investigator and historian at the Wolf Hotel.
