Celebrating Juneteenth! Deb Carson on the Traci Mims Exhibit at Woodson African American Museum: Lunchtime Conversations June 11th RadioStPete
Season 1, Episode 7635, Jun 10, 02:58 PM
RadioStPete.comINSIDER correspondent Deb Carson shares a new exhibit at the Woodson African American Museum of Florida just in time for this week's Juneteenth Celebration. Originally from our very own St. Pete, Mims has garnered abundant attention since establishing her artful practice in Atlanta. And if you go and view Mims’ prolific work on the website Black Art in America where multiple of her pieces are represented, you will marvel at her jaw-dropping 41.75 inch by 86.25 inch work “Truth and Lights.” And wait -- lucky us, we locals only need travel to the magnificent Woodson African American Museum of Florida to personally feast our eyes upon this monumental work and much more of Mims’ stunning canvases included in her “Give Us the Sun” exhibit on view now, and which runs all through the summer to the end of August AND – what a generous gift for our community -- admission to the Woodson, including the Mims exhibition, is free of charge.
To view Traci Mims epic exhibition and all that the Woodson African American Museum of Florida offers, visit the museum at 2240 9th Avenue South. It’s open Tuesdays through Thursdays, noon to 5, and Fridays, from 11 to 4. To visit the museum’s website, go to www.woodsonmuseum.org.
