Melissa in the Morning: Medicinal Marijuana

Connecticut recently approved two more conditions to allow patients in the state to receive medical marijuana as a treatment. It now brings the number to 44 conditions (11 of which include patients under 18 years old) approved in the state. What is the process of a condition getting medicinal marijuana approval and why does it matter when recreational marijuana is legal in Connecticut?
