RadioStPete.comINSIDER news director Nanette Wiser spoke with David Flatt, the executive director of the Imagine Museum in downtown St. Pete.
David Flatt is a highly accomplished archaeologist, historian, and seasoned museum executive. David’s passion for history and archaeology began at a young age, growing up on a family farm in Illinois. He holds Bachelor’s degrees in history and anthropology from Southern Illinois University, a Master’s in history from St. Louis University, and is currently pursuing a Ph.D. in anthropology from Flinders University in Australia. With a rich career in archaeology, David has worked on projects in the United States, Europe, and Asia. He has previously served as the Executive Director at the Kregel Windmill Factory Museum in Nebraska, where he founded the “Power of Wind” art show featuring artists from over 30 countries. He also served as the Executive Director of the Ford Piquette Avenue Plant Museum in Detroit, Michigan, the birthplace of the Ford Model T, where he successfully transformed it into the #1 ranked destination event venue in Michigan. During his time at Imagine Museum he has increased event production, museum attendance and revenue exponentially, and has secured historic partnerships and collaborations with other museums, charity organizations, and entertainment organizations.

Jan Exnar Exhibition: Explore the abstract works of Jan Exnar, a celebrated Czech Master Glass Artist, known for his innovative and experimental cast glass masterpieces. Exnar’s work serves as a visual commentary on the Velvet Revolution, reflecting the socio-political context of his homeland. With a remarkable ability to merge traditional craftsmanship with contemporary concepts, Jan Exnar’s contributions to the rich tapestry of Czech artistic expression have made him one of the most influential figures in the Czech Glass world. His work not only showcases technical prowess, but also conveys profound narratives regarding additive and subtractive abstraction.
Imagine Deeper: Into and Beyond Your Dreams Exhibition: Imagine Deeper: Into and Beyond Your Dreams is a special exhibition featuring the works of multidisciplinary artist, Louis Markoya. As a protege of Salvador Dali, Markoya’s works embody the surreal, melding elements of classical art with innovative optical technology and mathematics. In this exhibition, Markoya seamlessly intertwines his utilization of fractals in form creation with his profound exploration of the concept of infinity, weaving together intricate patterns that reflect the boundless depths of the human psyche. 8/2 Louis Marokya, a former protege to Salvador Dali at Imagine Museum for an exclusive unveiling of his latest artwork from 5-8 pm.
