The Long Walk with Burnie Burns

Episode 242,   Jul 31, 08:00 AM

Vespe is joined by Burnie Burns, co-founder of Rooster Teeth and co-host of the current popular podcast Morning Somewhere. While Burnie is famous for his presence in video game-based online entertainment, he also happens to be a big Stephen King fan and agreed to show up and talk about The Long Walk, one of King's best stories that is currently getting its first big screen adaptation. We talk a bit about that, about the casting that has been announced, about how writing under a pseudonym can sometimes paint a more accurate picture of the author than their real name, and why The Long Walk has had lasting power as a story.

The Long Walk is set in an Authoritarian future where the masses are entertained by a competition where 100 of America's youth start in one spot and have to keep walking until there is only one walker remaining. Those who fall during the walk don't just lose out on the grand prize, but are executed right there in broad daylight. 100 boys enter and only one will win.
