From University to the High Seas and the yachtie beginnings…

In our thirteenth episode of Pearls' Tales from the Superyacht Laundry, we sit down for a chat with Megan, a newcomer to the industry. YPOW is all about connecting and supporting women from all aspects of yachting, so in this episode, we rewind and go back to the beginning of a yachties journey. 

Megan is from the seaside town of Bournemouth. Although by the sea, she was never aware of the yachting industry and continued along the conventional path to University after school. Now armed with a degree in Criminology and sociology, Megan knew she wasn’t keen on being tied to a desk, so, enter: Below Deck. 

Having watched the ever-popular show, followed influencers in the industry and had a few friends try it out, she wanted to join in, so she signed up to do some training at Flying Fish. The episode discusses Megan's experience getting started and dipping her toe into both interior and exterior training.  

Megan explains how her university experience has unexpectedly prepared her more for yacht life, especially the shared living spaces! The conversation covers the pros and cons of interior versus exterior, the OCD level of 'clean', and how your training will always stay with you.
