Webinar on How Betrayal Trauma affects body image and self-worth and the Key to Healing with Debbie Allen
Episode 3, Nov 11, 05:00 PM
In the webinar, I opened up about my personal journey with betrayal trauma, specifically the impact of porn addiction and childhood trauma, and how it affected my body image and sense of self-worth. It’s a topic I rarely speak about, but I felt it was crucial to share how the emotional toll of betrayal can go far beyond heartbreak—it can deeply influence how we see ourselves, our bodies, and our value. Experiencing porn addiction in a partner often breeds insecurity, making you question your beauty, worth, and adequacy. For me, it was a constant battle with the feeling of not being enough. I found myself comparing to unrealistic standards. The self-criticism became an obstacle to my healing, and it took time and effort to unravel the negative beliefs rooted in that betrayal. But one thing I’ve learned on this journey is that healing begins with awareness. Meeting @asafeplacetoshare was a true blessing, and I’m grateful to be a part of this webinar, helping others reclaim their narrative and release the false beliefs they carry about themselves. Healing from betrayal trauma, especially when tied to addiction, is not only possible—it begins with finding our true identity in God, not in another person. We must learn not to internalize others’ addictions but to approach ourselves and others with compassion.
