Ep 340: "The Lost City": preventing suicide in the construction industry

Nov 18, 06:00 AM

Journalist Mick Coyle is discussing the shocking statistics around suicide in the construction industry this week.

Stats from a new "Lost City" campaign show there have been 7000 deaths by suicide by construction workers in the last decade.

That's the equivalent of enough people to build 150,000 homes, three schools and a hospital - a so-called "Lost City".

Mick meets Joe Baker from Second City Screed Ltd to hear about life on the frontline for construction staff. Joe has his own mental health journey to share.

Then we'll speak to Gavin Crane from Band of Builders, whose work is all about arresting these numbers and preventing future deaths.
