Youth Educational Programs w/Katrina Young, Bill Edwards Foundation for the Arts

Host Nanette Wiser talks with Katrina Young, Educations & Outreach Director for Bill Edwards Foundation for the Arts, who studied environmental science, has a deep passion for the arts and has appeared in community theaters as well as working as a school teacher. "Our Stage is Your Classroom" is the mantra of the non-profit, founded in 2011. We learn about their Youth Educational Programs - live performances Class Acts, BAM! Festivals outdoor programs on The Mahaffey plaza so students can engage in interactive activities including art, acting and drum circles, as well as school outreach programs to explore creativity at local schools. This summer's camp culminates in a production of  Legally Blonde The Musical Jr. at The Duke Energy Center for the Arts - Mahaffey Theater July 25-26. The three-week musical bootcamp runs from 8am-4pm July 7-11, 14-18 and 21-25 for ages 8-18.  There is also a Technical Theater Camp for ages 12-18 July 14-18 and July 21-25.
