This week I'm discussing the history of Hoodoo. Hoodoo is an African American folk spirituality that blends African traditions, Native American herbalism, and European magical practices. It involves the use of herbs, roots, and spiritual rituals for healing, protection, and personal empowerment. Often practiced in secret, Hoodoo has roots in the experiences of enslaved Africans in the U.S. and is closely linked to conjure—a set of spiritual and magical practices aimed at influencing outcomes through rituals and spells.
