But for one listener, the mine felt different the moment they approached the airlock section—an area once tended by young boys whose job was to open and close heavy doors to protect ventilation flow. 

Without warning, she felt an intense pressure and heaviness—so strong she thought something had gone wrong with the air underground. Then the guide cut the lights to demonstrate the mine’s total darkness.

When the lights returned, she saw it: a child-shaped figure—blacker than black—ducking behind a support beam like it was hiding.
