In this episode of Good Deeds, host Nanette Wiser chats with Lorielle J. Hollaway, founder and creative director of the non-profit Cultured Books Literacy Foundation who also is the Project Director of St. Pete Reads! Initiative. We talked about her journey as a book lover, a mother, a community good deed doer, completing her B.A. this spring (a masters is next), her health care day job, and what's next for her organization. The mission? ⨠Bringing books to life through literary and cultural programs in South St. Pete! "Our work is rooted in the belief that literacy already lives in our community and deserves to be seen, supported and celebrated through public programs, creative gatherings and partnerships," says Hollaway. Their quarterly programs include Dream Power: Letters from St. Pete during January; Poetry on the Deuces with a walking poetry experience with poets and educators; summer's Community Book Club for families and BOOK & A MOVIE pairing film experiences and discussion; and St. Pete Reads! Lit Fest, which includes a live jazz partnership with the Al Downing Tampa Bay Jazz Association.
