Day 6 of the Brendan Banfield trial just wrapped and the defense is making their move.
The morning began with John Carroll's motion to strike Juliana Peres Magalhães' testimony from the record. Denied. Then came the body camera footage from February 24, 2023 — the jury heard Brendan in the ambulance asking about his daughter, heard him at the hospital when doctors told him Christine didn't make it. He cried then. He cried again today watching it. Is it grief? Is it guilt? That's for the jury to decide.
The defense called their own blood spatter expert to contradict yesterday's prosecution testimony. LeeAnn Singley disputed the staging theory and testified that perpetrators of murder sometimes self-inflict wounds. Digital forensics witnesses followed, including a Fairfax County detective who confirmed he was not voluntarily removed from the investigation. Private investigator Harry Lidsky is building the case that Christine — not Brendan — was behind the FetLife account.
