Bus stops can be unsettling because they sit in that strange in-between space—places meant only for waiting, not staying. Late at night they often feel abandoned, lit by a single dim streetlight and surrounded by long stretches of quiet. You’re left standing in the open with nowhere to go but the road, listening to distant sounds and watching empty streets, always aware that someone, or something, could appear at any moment. It’s that helpless pause, the feeling of being exposed and unable to leave until something arrives, that can turn an ordinary bus stop into a place of quiet dread.
