The account of Jericho’s demise is one of the best-known passages in the Bible and presents a clear picture of God’s power over evil. In a most unusual display, He instructed His people to march around the city once a day for six days, and seven times on the seventh day. Only then did the walls fall. Thus, the writer of Hebrews states, “By faith the walls of Jericho fell down after they had been encircled for seven days” (11:30). Trust in God’s power led the people to obedient triumph.

God’s plan of salvation shares important similarities with this ancient account. This sermon will examine those parallels and consider what it truly means to trust in God’s power through obedient action.
