In this episode of Arts & Inspiration, Brenda McMahon welcomes Elizabeth Neily, a painter and fiber artists who has lived in Gulfport for 38 years. She came to town in 1988 and within a few years, was at the center of the Gulfport Revitalization that would last for another 25 years.  Neily worked with the City of Gulfport to be part of the Waterfront Redevelopment District’s board of directors as the arts community representative. Together with other artists, she helped occupy old buildings with artist studios, create an Arts Council, began First Friday Art Walks and was part of the group who lead the building of the Catherine Hickman Theatre.   Neily even has the honor of being the FIRST GECKO QUEEN, back in 2001. It's a spirited journey into the history of Gulfport and its artist haven history from someone who experienced it in person!
