Andy "retired" after a 28-year career in the energy and air pollution control industries to co-found Ramble on Pearl in 2013. Ramble was a nonprofit social enterprise that createdes pathways to purpose and community for adults with developmental disabilities. Andy and his wife and co-founder Connie built Ramble into a thriving clothing boutique that served as a classroom to teach job skills and provide paid work experience to the program’s apprentices. Their goal was to create a pathway to securing independent, sustainable and competitive employment in the community for the program’s graduates. Ramble closed in 2022 due to changing circumstances in the retail marketplace in downtown Boulder. As co-founder of Ramble on Pearl, Connie used her background as a classroom teacher to develop and oversee the curriculum used to teach employment skills to our apprentices as well as managed the sourcing of merchandise sold in the storel
This episode was recorded with memory of Barb Ziegler, the founder of The Trailhead Community.
