Episode 350: Nursery Rhyme Horror

Nursery rhymes are unsettling because they take something innocent and familiar and twist it into something strange. The simple melodies, repetitive words, and childlike imagery create a sense of comfort, but beneath the surface, many rhymes contain themes of loss, danger, death, and the unknown.

Hearing a cheerful song about dark subjects creates a powerful contrast that feels unnatural, as if something meant to be safe has been corrupted. Their connection to childhood also makes them more haunting, because they remind us of a time when we trusted the world completely. A nursery rhyme whispered in the dark can feel like a reminder that even the most innocent things may be hiding something far more disturbing.

Today’s fantastic story is the entire ‘Black Week’ series, an original work by the wonderful Boe Whiskey, kindly shared directly with me for the express purpose of having me exclusively narrate it here for you all.
