Siders 16 Kids: Did Ohio Just Silence The Wrong People?

Ohio's attorney general described what investigators found in the Siders home as pure evil. The sheriff said his county's livestock were kept in better conditions than those sixteen children. Both officials saw the inside of that house with their own eyes. A Vinton County judge just told them they cannot talk about it.

The gag order covers the AG's office, the prosecutor, the sheriff, the clerk, and defense counsel. It was filed by Gary Siders Junior's attorney citing inflammatory language. The judge agreed the statements could prejudice potential jurors. What the order also does is halt the public flow of information about how sixteen children went undetected for eighteen years — right when state legislators started asking the hardest questions.

Gallia County filed truancy complaints against the family in 2021 after six children missed an entire school year. The court terminated every case three months later. Gary Senior was released from custody because Vinton County couldn't cover his medical costs. Ohio approved a million dollars in emergency funding for the children. The officials who uncovered these facts and shared them with the public are the ones now prohibited from speaking. The institutions that never found those kids have not been required to explain anything.
