D4vd Told Deputies WHAT About A 13-Year-Old?

A thirteen-year-old went missing three times, and two different sheriff's departments still couldn't stop what happened to her. Tony Brueski walks through the entire D4vd case for Hidden Killers Live, from the welfare check nobody escalated to the charges that followed. 
Celeste Rivas Hernandez disappeared from Lake Elsinore three times in early 2024 before her parents' reports led Riverside County deputies to musician David Burke's phone number. LA County deputies handled the welfare check at his West Hollywood home, where Burke pulled up a yearbook photo and said he barely knew her. Deputies confirmed her age and runaway status to his face, then left, closing out a report that should have triggered far more scrutiny than it did. 
According to prosecutors, that's when things accelerated. Burke allegedly paid a classmate of Celeste's a thousand dollars to deliver her a new phone so the two could keep talking. Over the year that followed, prosecutors say she traveled with him across the country and overseas, met his family, got matching tattoos, and wore his name on her ring finger while still in middle school. 
The unsettling part doesn't end there. D4vd's most successful song, the album it came from, and the persona built around both all mirror what prosecutors now allege happened inside a Hollywood Hills home. Seven months passed between the discovery of Celeste's remains and Burke's eventual arrest, during which three grand jury panels convened, a friend of Burke's fled to Montana to avoid testifying, and his family fought the grand jury process in Texas. 
Burke is now charged with first-degree murder with special circumstances, including lying in wait, murder for financial gain, and murder of a witness. That financial gain allegation ties the charges directly to Burke's career and public image.
