The American Red Cross has declared a blood crisis, only the second in the organization's history. A blood crisis is the most extreme blood shortage, posing a concerning risk to patient care. We spoke with Richard Branigan, CEO of the American Red Cross Connecticut and Rhode Island Region. What led to the crisis and how can we turn things around sooner rather than later?
