Lindsay Clancy Trial: Her Psychiatric Nurse Says No Psychosis, No Warning Signs

Lindsay Clancy, 34, of Duxbury, Massachusetts, is on trial for allegedly strangling her three children — 5-year-old Cora, 3-year-old Dawson, and 7-month-old Callan — with exercise resistance bands inside the family's Summer Street home on January 24, 2023. She faces three counts of murder and three counts of strangulation, has pleaded not guilty, and her attorney Kevin Reddington is mounting an insanity defense built on claims of severe postpartum psychosis and psychiatric overmedication.
Today the jury heard from the two nurse practitioners who actually managed her care. Julie Paul, the first to treat her, was cross-examined by Reddington, who zeroed in on something simple but pointed: did Clancy have Paul's personal cell number? She did. Then came Rebecca Jollotta, certified by Postpartum Support International, who took over after Paul left the clinic. Jollotta testified that Clancy cycled through several medications, was losing weight, and wasn't sleeping — but she never presented as manic, and Jollotta saw no signs of psychosis, suicidal ideation, or homicidal ideation. She also noted the medication changes were short trials, not the full four-week courses typically needed to judge whether something's working. Prosecutors highlighted that Clancy once reached out to Jollotta specifically worried about Ativan dependence and intrusive thoughts — proof, they suggest, that she knew exactly what was happening to her.
After the killings, Clancy allegedly attempted suicide by jumping from a second-story window and is now paralyzed from the waist down. Her husband, Patrick Clancy, was out running errands at the time and has since relocated to Manhattan. The trial continues in Plymouth Superior Court.
