ABOUT SAFETY HARBOR ART & MUSIC CENTER Once upon a time in Safety Harbor, Florida, two artists named Todd and Kiaralinda had a wonderfully impractical idea: what if a home, a building, and eventually an entire community space could become a living work of art?  With the help of their friend Heather Richardson, a Pepsi Refresh Grant, architect/designers Grant Genova and Dan Carlson, hundreds of volunteers, and a wildly generous community of artists, dreamers, builders, musicians, mosaic-makers, and general magic-makers, that idea became the Safety Harbor Art and Music Center - lovingly known as SHAMc.  SHAMc opened its doors in 2015 and has been sparkling ever since - literally. More than 290 people helped create the mirrored mosaics that permanently adorn the building, and today the venue features over 300 mirrored mosaic panels, sculptural details, repurposed materials, and whimsical surprises around every corner. It is part performance space, part art installation, part community clubhouse, and part “wait, did that wall just wink at me?” As a nonprofit community arts venue serving Safety Harbor and the greater Tampa Bay region, SHAMc presents live music, visual art exhibitions, workshops, youth programs, and intergenerational creative experiences. Over the past nine years, SHAMc has hosted 350+ live performances, welcomed more than 700 artists, and brought thousands of people together through concerts, exhibitions, classes, camps, and community events. At its heart, SHAMc is a place for children, grown-ups, and children-at-heart to gather, create, listen, learn, laugh, and be inspired. Our intimate listening room is designed to bring artists and audiences closer together, while our programming supports working artists, encourages curiosity, and celebrates the belief that art makes communities stronger, kinder, and a lot more interesting.
