Nolan Wells' DA Left One Word Out of Her Statement

The word is "phone." Jackson County DA Angel Myers McIlrath has told the public a grand jury will get everything her office gathered in the Nolan Wells case, and she hasn't said that word since the family put the device on a four-day window. Jennifer Coffindaffer, a 25-year FBI veteran, joins Tony Brueski on the evidence nobody has opened.

Everything loud about this case rests on it. Nolan's mother says his July 4 texts and pictures had been wiped when she got the phone from his friends. The friends insist no one touched it. An extraction would expose deletions, timestamps, and any login around the hours he went missing. Seven weeks on, the phone sits with the family and no examiner has touched it.

A joint exam at the Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College lab was agreed July 15 and never scheduled. A 48-hour deadline from the DA followed on August 12, with the parents away. The family countered on August 17 with August 18 through 21. No exam has been announced.

Coffindaffer's 25 years in the Bureau aim the questions at the system. The sheriff announced no foul play on day two, ahead of any autopsy, and never requested the phone. A congressional caucus, the NAACP, and Al Sharpton all moved before a single test was run. The three friends gave the FBI their own devices without being asked twice.

The family's subpoenas to Snapchat, Meta, TikTok, WhatsApp, and Life360 seek login and IP histories. Those logs may answer the wipe question before the phone does.

No one has been arrested. The friends deny erasing anything. The state has its autopsy and its toxicology. The last piece is the one nobody will pick up.
