On this episode of Do Good Voices, host Meredith Pericles, founder and executive director of the Do Good Foundation, welcomes Justin Lucci, founder of The Global Love Project, a St. Petersburg-based nonprofit using art, creativity and community connection to inspire positive change.
What began in 2022 with Justin chalking the simple message “LOVE :)” on a sidewalk has grown into a community movement bringing people together through public art, reflection and meaningful connection. The Global Love Project hosts weekly community chalk gatherings and works with individuals, nonprofits and businesses to connect local action with the United Nations’ 17 Sustainable Development Goals. Justin’s work demonstrates how a simple creative act can become a catalyst for healing, connection and community engagement. Through chalk art and collaborative events, The Global Love Project encourages people to express themselves, meet their neighbors and recognize the many ways they are already contributing to a healthier, kinder and more connected community.
The project has grown into a significant St. Petersburg community initiative, with more than 10,000 people having participated in its chalk gatherings.
The conversation also connects to the upcoming International Day of Peace, celebrated globally on September 21. The Global Love Project is encouraging St. Petersburg residents, organizations and businesses to recognize the work they are already doing to create peace through kindness, service, sustainability, creativity and community connection.
