Barry Morphew Tried What Before Police Were Called?

Barry Morphew’s alleged Denver hit-and-run has created another court problem while he awaits trial in the death of Suzanne Morphew.

Judge Amanda Hopkins says video shows Morphew refusing to provide his name or identification after a driver reported that two vehicles were struck. The court says he indicated he didn’t have insurance and then tried to resolve the damage with a specific offer.

The driver rejected it and said police were being called. Hopkins wrote that Morphew then left, nearly struck another person, and drove over a curb.

Morphew has pleaded not guilty to first-degree murder. He was already free on a $3 million bond with GPS monitoring. Hopkins ordered him confined to his home, and prosecutors want tighter restrictions because they argue the encounter shows increased flight risk.
