The house across the street had been empty for fifteen years, but shortly after moving in, a couple began noticing movement behind its upstairs windows.

Then a neighbor told them the story.

Decades earlier, a young woman had waited in that house for the man she planned to marry to return from war. He never did. She spent the rest of her life watching the road, always hoping the next vehicle might finally bring him home.

Now the house is locked, abandoned, and without electricity. But when headlights appear at the far end of the street, something still seems to move behind that upstairs curtain.
