The Croft State Park Encounter

From bizarre experiences in the wilderness to unexplained creatures and encounters that seem to defy any conventional explanation, the stories this week serve as another reminder that sometimes the strangest things happen when we least expect them.

Then, the incredible story of a listener named Lewis, whose experience began as a peaceful camping and fishing trip with his girlfriend at Croft State Park in South Carolina. After noticing a mysterious orange light moving through the night sky, the couple watched as the strange object returned the following evening—this time descending over Lake Craig. But later that night, things took a terrifying turn. Lewis awoke around 3:00 a.m. to strange sounds moving around their campsite. Thinking raccoons had gotten into their supplies, he climbed out of the tent to investigate. Instead, he found the glowing orange object hovering nearby—and several small, childlike beings moving through the camp.

What happened next remains a mystery.

Hours later, Lewis was discovered more than a mile from the campsite, lying facedown in the grass along a trail. He had no memory of how he got there, his shoes were missing, and his clothing was strangely out of place. More than four decades later, Lewis still wonders what really happened during those missing hours—and whether some memories are better left buried.
