Caleb Flynn Court Coverage Day 2: David Hammond Described Ashley as WHAT?!

The second lane of David Hammond's Day 2 testimony dealt with the evidence surrounding the gun and the bedroom. Hammond, a special agent with the Ohio Bureau of Criminal Investigation, testified about investigative work involving Caleb Flynn's truck and the room where Ashley Flynn, 37, Caleb's wife and the victim in the murder case, was found dead. 
The prosecution's questioning of Hammond occupied roughly the first two hours of Day 2. His testimony moved from photographs of doors and windows into the vehicle and bedroom, giving jurors one investigator's view of the scene from the outside in. 
Hammond told jurors that investigators swabbed the portion of Caleb's truck where Caleb said he kept his gun in the center console. The collection documented the location Caleb identified as the gun's storage area. 
In the bedroom, Hammond testified that 9mm shell casings were present. He also gave jurors his interpretation of Ashley's position when she was shot. Hammond said he believed she was asleep or otherwise lying still when the shots were fired. 
That conclusion fits into the prosecution's broader allegation that Caleb Flynn, 40, killed Ashley and staged the home to look like a burglary. The defense rejects that account. It says an intruder killed Ashley during a home invasion and that investigators rushed to judgment against Caleb. Caleb has pleaded not guilty to all 11 charges. 
This testimony does not answer every question about the weapon or who fired it. It does, however, show the path the state's investigator is laying out for jurors: a claimed gun-storage location in the truck, shell casings in the bedroom, and an opinion about whether Ashley was moving when she was shot. The defense will have the opportunity to test Hammond's conclusions and the investigation behind them as the case continues.
