Why Caleb Flynn's Mistress Never Called the Police

Prosecutors in the Caleb Flynn murder trial say the former worship pastor and American Idol contestant sent more than 100,000 messages to his mistress in the year before his wife Ashley was found shot to death inside their Tipp City home. Among those messages, according to the state: texts where Flynn allegedly described staying up until 4 a.m. trying to figure out how to kill his wife without going to jail.

The mistress read those messages. She stayed in the relationship. According to the prosecution's account, she never reported them to anyone.

Scott breaks down the patterns that keep someone in a relationship with a person who is describing violent plans, the role of denial and emotional dependency, and what the defense's "appeasement" argument says about the psychology of affairs.

Caleb Flynn has pleaded not guilty to aggravated murder, murder, felonious assault, and tampering with evidence.
