Bryan Kohberger's family has entered the fight. In a statement exclusive to ABC News, the Kohbergers declared their full support for Bryan's bid to withdraw his guilty plea in the murders of Madison Mogen, Kaylee Goncalves, Xana Kernodle, and Ethan Chapin. They said they want "the complete and unvarnished truth" told through a proper trial.
Kohberger himself claimed in his petition that his former attorneys coerced him into confessing falsely. He's written that his parents and sisters were present for many of the discussions with his legal team before the plea. In his affidavit, he points to his family's involvement as proof that the pressure was real.
Psychotherapist and author Shavaun Scott joins Tony to examine whether a highly narcissistic offender can orchestrate his own family as a PR operation from a prison cell. Is the family's statement genuine grief and denial, or calculated messaging? And what does Bryan Kohberger's psychology look like when the people who saved his life from the death penalty now publicly validate his claim that he never did it?
A hearing on Kohberger's petition is set for June 2027.
