New Haven Solid Waste & Recycling Authority with SCSU and 94.3 WYBC presents the Hometown Recycling Day on Saturday, September 26, 2026 from 10am-1pm at Southern Connecticut State University, 114 Farnham Avenue, New Haven.

WHAT YOU CAN BRING:

BOOKS: hard & soft cover

BOTTLES & CANS REDEEMED*: plastic bottles and aluminum cans. No glass.

DOCUMENTS: on-site document shredding. Sensitive papers for secure shredding.

ELECTRONICS: TVs, PCs, laptops, cell phones, monitors, stereos, printers, small electric appliances, and wires

TEXTILES: clothing, shoes, belts, hats, handbags - dry and in plastic bags

Hometown Recycling Day gives New Haven residents and resident students a convenient way to recycle responsibly while supporting Connecticut’s goal of diverting 60% of waste from the municipal solid waste stream. The event will also provide education on sustainability, household hazardous waste and paint disposal, curbside recycling best practices, and resources for hard-to-recycle items.
