Caleb Flynn Trial Rebuttal: Paul Watkins Connects the Pieces the Defense Challenged

Paul Watkins got the prosecution's last word in the Caleb Flynn trial, and he used it to answer the defense point by point. His rebuttal connected evidence and timelines while highlighting statements prosecutors characterize as Caleb's lies in the case surrounding the death of Ashley Flynn.

Caleb Flynn, 40, has pleaded not guilty to 11 charges, including aggravated murder. Ashley was killed inside the couple's Tipp City, Ohio home on February 16, 2026. Prosecutors allege Caleb killed her and staged a home-invasion burglary. The defense says an actual burglar killed Ashley and that investigators decided Caleb was responsible before the evidence justified that conclusion.

Defense attorney L. Patrick Mulligan had just argued that the State's case was circumstantial and that prosecutors proved Caleb had an affair, but did not prove he killed Ashley. Rebuttal was Watkins' opportunity to tell jurors why the State believes that argument fails.

Rather than treating individual evidence as separate questions, Watkins tied the pieces back to the prosecution's timeline and the statements it says do not hold up. That distinction matters because the two sides are asking jurors to use the same evidence in fundamentally different ways.
