Extortionists are targeting people connected to the Nancy Guthrie kidnapping investigation. Former FBI Special Agent Jennifer Coffindaffer received a ransom demand at a private personnel email address — using a middle name she doesn’t go by publicly. Someone with dark-web resources accessed details about a former federal agent that shouldn’t exist in any public database. Coffindaffer reported the demand to the FBI, but local authorities dismissed these notes as fakes while sophisticated crypto-backed extortion continued. Nancy’s friend Lauren Serpa received a separate demand for six bitcoin — roughly half a million dollars — with claims Guthrie was alive in Mexico and AI-generated images offered as proof of life. Tracking the crypto wallets and IP trails behind these demands could surface connections to the actual kidnapping. Nancy Guthrie, 84, has been missing from Catalina Foothills, Arizona since February 1, 2026.
