Caleb Flynn was convicted on nine charges including aggravated murder for the shooting death of his wife Ashley Flynn. Prosecutors argued he shot Ashley while she slept in their Tipp City home and staged the scene as a break-in. Flynn was a worship leader and former American Idol contestant who had been having an 18-month affair with Alleigha Botner, a 24-year-old church intern. The pair exchanged more than 107,000 messages. In one, Flynn allegedly wrote he was up until 4 a.m. trying to think of ways to kill his wife and not go to jail. He texted Botner the night before the killing with the words “I choose you” and “actions will come tomorrow,” according to testimony. Divorce was always available. The defense called no witnesses. The jury deliberated approximately two hours. Attorney Bob Motta and retired FBI agent Robin Dreeke join the discussion.
