This week on the Humanitarian Hour we took a close look into the legal rights of children in conflict.

South Sudan has in the past year seen many rights of the child abused with increasing reports of the recruitment of child soldiers, access to education being hampered by the conflict and the occupation of schools by soldiers and the displaced population and recent reports from the UN Children's Agency, UNICEF detailing accounts of rapes, murder and abductions of children in conflict affected parts of the country.

Our guests on the program this week are Chol Andrew and Victoria Akur from the South Sudan Law Society.

We find out what are the rights of children in a conflict situation, whose job it is to protect these rights and where can children go for assistance if these rights are abused.

For further information on the South Sudan Law Society, or to seek help for yourself or your child, you can call: 0977 070 283.

And of course also in the program we have our usual update of humanitarian news around the country and the latest information from the UN Mission in South Sudan with its spokesperson Ariane Quentier.
