IGAD Plus Mediators to Reconvene in Addis Ababa
“To accept or not to accept ” …this is the question that could be lingering in the minds of all those involved in negotiating peace for south Sudan as they make a final scrutiny of the #IGAD compromise peace proposal. The compromise peace proposal was unveiled to the stakeholders two weeks ago, highlighting among others a power sharing deal. Under the proposal the #SPLM/A-In Opposition would take 53% administrative power, the government would take 33% while 14% would be for the group previously known as the Former Political Detainees and other political parties. The Presidential Press Secretary Ateny Wek Ateny, told Gabriel Shaddar that the negotiation team heads back to Addis Ababa today.
He however said government finds some parts IGAD’s proposal for a peace compromise very difficult to accept or implement.
