Chamber of commerce calls for an overhaul of the taxation system

The National Chamber of Commerce says there is an urgent need for the daunting task of modernizing the South Sudan’s taxation system. This task would include restructuring of the national revenue authority. This is aimed at harmonizing the different taxes levied by city councils, state and other local tax collectors. Another task will be to make South Sudan internationally competitive, with business pushing for a clean-up in the nation's relatively messy taxation system. But how easy will this be at a time when the many tax collectors are still enjoying record profits. Simon Akuei Deng Secretary, is the General of the Chamber of Commerce.
