'Wife Beating is not a culture of the 21st Century' - Mr Yisa Barnabas, UNFPA

Violence against women and more especially wife beating should be recognized as an ancient culture which is unacceptable in the 21st century, Dr Yisa Barnabas, Country Director of the United Nations Population Fund in South Sudan has said.
Dr Yisa was talking on Miraya Breakfast Show today as South Sudan joined the rest of the world to launch the International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women, marked annually on 25 November.
The day kicks off a 16 day campaign to stop this gross violation of women's human rights. The campaign runs until 10 December, Human Rights Day.
