Liberian Female Author Speaks on the Power of Healing and Reconciliation

The women of South Sudan are being encouraged to speak out against gender based violence as a first step towards finding solutions and eliminating violence against women.

Agnes Fallah Kamara-Umunna, was a teenager when the civil war in Liberian, considered one of the bloodiest in Africa’s history broke out in 1989 and claimed more than 200,000 lives.

Kamara hosted a radio show, "Straight from the Heart", where she broadcasted the stories of conflicts between parties as part of her modest contribution towards efforts to help achieve reconciliation.

She is also the author of the book; AND STILL PEACE DID NOT COME: A Memoir of Reconciliation an emotional story of war, and finding peace among the ruins.

Kamara spoke to David Lukan, on the line from New York about her book and why she thinks speaking out after conflict matters.
