The World Food Program and World Vision International have started a training program to build on farming skills of residents of Juba, as part of support to food insecure households in urban areas.

More than 40,000 people will receive training on how to grow food in gardens around their homes.

WFP Communications Officer George Fominyen says the first training session started with 1,700 participants.

“It’s not just to do with food, but it may be that people need the skills and ideas on how to grow crops around their houses and come up with some kind of urban gardening projects where they can have vegetables to boost food security and build their income.”

In this interview Fominyen explains to Henry Lokuri that there are a lot of people who cannot survive and provide themselves with good and nourishing nutrition in urban areas such as Juba.
