President Kiir pledges to mend ties with the United Nations

President Salva Kiir has outlined his priorities on improving the image of #SouthSudan both regionally and globally, as he seeks to mend strained relations with the #UnitedNations.

“Our relations with the United Nations have not been smooth over the last three years,” President Kiir told the transitional National Legislative Assembly in Juba.

He recognized the new UN Secretary General, Antonio Guterres, as a “pragmatic man,” and said, “my government pledges to work with him very closely to improve our relationship with the UN system in general.”
