Hunger Drives residents out of Yeri village in Amadi

The latest wave of displaced persons in Mundri say food shortages Yeri forced them to risk everything to find better options.

Hundreds of people arrived in Mundri on Friday, hungry and tired and visibly traumatized.

Radio Miraya understands that People are desperate for basic food items like sorghum, maize and millet.

The Speaker of Amadi State Legislative assembly, Margaret Fozia Emmanuel, described the situation of the people arriving from Yeri.

Early last week, the Bishop of the Diocese of the Episcopal Church of South Sudan and Sudan in Yeri village John Abraham Nyari, told Radio Miraya that the situation in Yeri village has been worsened by failed crop yields and lack of humanitarian access.

He said the church is negotiating with the armed groups, to allow flow of humanitarian aid to the people in dire need of assistance.
