The scarcity of drugs is complicating treatment for Patients with Hepatitis B at Yambio state hospital.

Last week, a lab technician confirmed to Radio Miraya that about one in every ten patients reporting at the hospital had Symptoms of Hepatitis B. Hepatitis B is a virus that infects the liver. The virus is spread through contact with the blood and body fluids of an infected person.

Patients suffering from Hepatitis B require several antiviral medications, which help, fight the virus and slow its ability to damage the liver.

Dr. Kinawo Richard Hakim, the Medical Director of Yambio State hospital, has confirmed that the cases are overwhelming and yet, the Hospital lacks the vital drugs.
