NRC to USA: "Show leadership, Do not cut aid to South Sudan"

Do not cut off aid to South Sudan. This is a strong appeal, the Norwegian Refugee Council – NRC is making as the US Ambassador to the United Nations, Nikki Haley, arrives in South Sudan today.

The Trump administration has signaled that it might attempt to increase pressure on President Kiir by withdrawing some of its $730 million in annual humanitarian assistance.

However, Joel Charny, Norwegian Refugee Council's USA Director has cautioned that the US must show leadership; continue to push for peace, while remaining committed to saving lives through humanitarian aid.
